Make sure only the Elevations layer is switched on for the new surface style. Use the Volumes Dashboard to set EG as the base surface and FG as the comparison surface. The FG surface is made up of pasting the Alignment surface onto the EG surface. Shown below is the Final Grade surface (FG) and the Existing Grade surface (EG). A positive value indicates a fill, and a negative value indicates a cut. It appears based at the zero elevation as a reference meaning no cut of fill. The cut and fill surface that is created from a cut and fill analysis is a volume surface that reports the volume difference between two surfaces. This tool is NOT recommended for beginners.A very interesting question was posed to me: how would one display a cut and fill a surface in colour, differentiating between cut and fill with separate colours? It is easier than one would expect. That is a handy tool, and it’s great for CAD Managers and Advanced users. If a layer is in use in any way Purge will not allow you to delete the layer. You could remove a layer from a drawing that is only being used in a style that is not being used at all in the drawing.
The difference is that Superpurge will take specific items out even if they are in use. In some ways, that seems like the normal AutoCAD purge command. Superpurge will allow you to remove all the objects selected at once or select the individual items and only remove those selected whether they are purgable or not. For instance, if you remove all the registered apps from a Civil 3D drawing then you may not be able to use Grading or Pipe Networks the next time you open the file.
You need to be familiar with what the program can do when specific actions are set. This is not a program you can just install and start using right away. If you decide to invest in Superpurge, read the Help file before using the add-on. It can deep clean a file so much that you cannot open the file afterwards if you’re not careful.
